In his recent document announcing the research program focused on Ripple, UC Berkeley has announced proposals, for which the deadline is set for November 30th. He also recognized the grant granted by Ripple to the institution for the same purpose. The document said:

"A multi-million dollar multi-year grant has been awarded to Berkeley Haas
from Ripple, a growing company in the emerging blockchain industry, to support research,
courses and activities of students in blockchain, cryptocurrency and digital payments "

The document also informed that the fund will be hosted in the Institute for economic and social impact [IBSI], in which the funds will also be granted for the following purposes: cryptocurrency and digital payments, blockchain systems, cryptography and related topics, for example, blockchain for global financial inclusion and economic development.

In the announcement, the university also provided aspects that a topic of the research proposal may include. Under technical arguments, it is possible to include efficient scaling solutions for the XRP consent mechanism. Another research topic suggested by UC Berkeley was:

"Evaluate the incentives in the emerging networks of blockchain (work trial, Byzantine
fault tolerant (XRP), etc.) on a variety of factors including: network diversity e
participation, security, consolidation of decision-making, etc. "

Under business topics, the document specified but did not limit the proposals to include the use of blockchain in the verification and protection of medical records, the identity to avoid electoral fraud, which will be further used to recover the verification immediate results. The suggestion also included a topic that revolved around the implications for the automation of contractual relationships through a value chain.

Finally, a section was dedicated to the issues concerning regulatory issues in the cryptocurrency space. The overall regulatory framework on digital resources, its projection of new technologies on the world, locally and globally, were some of the points in view on regulatory issues.
