Deep Blue Notes: episode one – podcast | Science

[ad_1]

In episode one of this three-part series, nature sound recorder pioneer Chris Watson sets out on a journey to record an animal that has so far escaped his microphones: the blue whale.

Despite being the largest animals ever lived, much of their life remains a mystery. As Chris travels to Mexico to try to find whales, he meets scientists, conservationists, and others who are also eager to learn more about their behavior and the ocean environment they live in.

Chris is accompanied on his journey by space sound artist, engineer and academic Tony Myatt with whom he is collaborating on a special sound installation for Oceans 21, a series of projects about the fascination and peril of the oceans.
