COVID-19: 21 new cases and another death in Bas-Saint-Laurent

Twenty-one new cases of COVID-19 have been added to the daily report drawn up by the CISSS du Bas-Saint-Laurent. Unfortunately today there is also one death, bringing the total to 16 since the start of the pandemic.

There are 7 new people infected with COVID-19 in the MRC of Rimouski-Neigette, 11 in the MRC of Matanie and 2 in the MRC of Mitis and one in the MRC of Témiscouata.

The total number of cases identified since last spring now stands at 718 in Bas-Saint-Laurent, of which 145 are active, according to data from CISSS du Bas-Saint-Laurent. Yesterday 513 screening tests were carried out.

Public health authorities are currently reporting a COVID-19 hospitalization in the area.

REPORT ON EMOTIONS

The current outbreak at Résidence Les Bâtisseurs de Matane is stable. There are 89 infected people in this living environment, including 66 residents, 20 workers and 3 healthcare workers. We regret 5 deaths. 23 residents and 13 workers are now believed to have recovered.

At the Résidence des Sages de Matane, a worker received a positive test yesterday. This outbreak now has 26 cases, including 15 residents and 11 workers. Unfortunately, two people with COVID-19 lost their lives there.

The Bas-Saint-Laurent Integrated Center of Health and Social Services (CISSS) informs the population that Matane CHSLD is facing a COVID-19 epidemic. To date, 10 residents, including one death, and 5 workers have tested positive for COVID-19. This facility accommodates 96 people and accommodates more than 100 workers. Affected users have been relocated to a designated CHSLD hot zone.

Rimouski Hospital is also facing a COVID-19 outbreak in one of its hospital units. Four employees tested positive for COVID-19 in the past week. All those known to have had significant contact with the cases have been isolated. No users are interested.
