Coronavirus: Paris bans overnight delivery of food or parcels on Friday – Coronavirus

Paris will ban culinary delivery and clustering services between 10pm and 6am from Friday to limit the spread of Covid-19, police in the French capital said Thursday, according to Agerpres.

In addition, the sale and consumption of alcohol in public places will be banned overnight in Paris from 6 November.

Last month, President Emmanuel Macron imposed a new blockade, forcing the closure of non-essential stores, such as those that do not sell basic foods and medicines. People must also make a statement on their own responsibility when they go out on the street. But a week after the introduction of these restrictions, France records more than 40,000 new cases of Covid-19 every day and more than 4,000 patients are admitted to intensive care.

The restaurants, closed by block, have been able to sell packaged products and make deliveries, but the prefecture of Paris police explained that many customers and couriers gather during the night, despite the recommendation to respect the physical distance.

“When there are people who do not follow the rules of the game, putting the health of a large number of people at risk, you have to put new restrictions in place,” Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo told BFM TV.

A French government source said “clandestine parties, private dinners” were reported in Paris and that stricter measures were needed.

France reported 40,558 new cases of Covid-19 in 24 hours and 385 deaths in the same period on Wednesday. In this country, the total number of people infected with the new coronavirus has reached 1.5 million and that of deaths caused by Covid-19 to 38,674.
