Due to the worsening situation in Corona, the Italian government has imposed stricter restrictions on citizens in six other parts of the country. The province of Bolzano-South Tyrol has been officially declared a red zone, where people should stay at home if possible. Furthermore, with the decree on Tuesday, the Ministry of Health has redeveloped the regions of Liguria in the north-west, Abruzzo, Tuscany and Umbria in central Italy and Basilicata in the south to the medium-risk group (orange).
The tightening had already been anticipated in Bolzano. In the other areas the Rome decree was foreseen in advance.
Since Friday, the government has been trying to curb rising levels of infection with new measures. Citizens are subject to a nighttime curfew from 10pm to 5am.
The number of deaths per crown in Italy rose to nearly 600 in one day, the highest in over six months. According to information on Tuesday, health authorities registered 580 Covid 19 victims within 24 hours.
A total of 42,330 people have died from the viral disease since February.

Experts from the Ministry of Health have spoken out in favor of even stricter restrictions. “The epidemiological situation continues to worsen in our country”, said Giovanni Rezza. This justifies more restrictive interventions. According to the data, up to the beginning of November there were about 300 coronal cases per week per 100,000 people. In the period from 15 to 28 October, each infected person infected an average of 1.72 other people. Comparison with German data is sometimes difficult due to the different survey periods.
On Tuesday, health authorities recorded about 35,100 cases of contagion in 24 hours. The number of new infections is often lower at the start of the week due to fewer tests over the weekend. Authorities reported just over 39,800 cases on Saturday.
The head of the UN peacekeeping missions, the French diplomat Jean-Pierre Lacroix, tested positive for a corona virus infection. Lacroix announced on Twitter Tuesday that he had no symptoms and was working out of quarantine in Lisbon. The search for contacts is in progress.
