COMMUNICATION | Maduro proposes to the EU to establish a program of political and economic cooperation



A.- The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, has proposed to the European Union (EU) establish a cooperation program to effectively consolidate relationships and strengthen political, economic and social ties.

The president presented the proposal during the meeting that he held this Friday with the heads of mission of the member countries of the EU accredited before the national government.

According to a statement released this Saturday by the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry, the head of state has also urged the European authorities to maintain a position of greater respect and balance on the political, economic and social reality of Venezuela, said AVN.

On January 18, 2019 a business meeting took place at the Miraflores Palace between the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, and the Heads of the member countries of the European Union accredited to the national government residing in Caracas, at the order to exchange opinions on national and international political reality, as well as to establish the best channels for dialogue and action, to improve relations between Venezuela and Europe.

During the meeting, all issues were dealt with frankly and developed in an atmosphere of cordiality, emphasizing the importance of maintaining relationships based on respect for sovereignty and cooperation for the peace and development.

President Nicolás Maduro Moros has called on the European Union and its member countries to effectively consolidate relations and strengthen existing political, economic and social ties, including the presence and attention of the communities of European citizens rooted in Venezuela since then decades. In addition, the President urged the European authorities to maintain a position of greater respect and balance on the political, economic and social reality of Venezuela, while extending the invitation to the authorities of the EU to visit the country, in order to establish a constructive cooperation program.

The meeting examined the Venezuelan Executive's efforts to maintain peace and stimulate the development of a national dialogue that includes the broader sectors of national political life, condemning any action that goes beyond the Bolivarian constitution of Venezuela, which resort to third country intervention or seeking to change constitutional order.

The meeting finally concluded by recognizing the contribution that the European Union can give to Venezuela, reaffirming the common values ​​of both, which should continue to be the basis for the development of profitable and lasting diplomatic relations, all in framework of respect for national and international law sovereignty.
