Coinbase Pro added 4 tokens today

In a series of additions and developments, and not unexpectedly, Coinbase added another four Ethereum tokens. Dai (DAI), Golem (GNT), Maker (MKR) and Zilliqa (ZIL) will be added to the Coinbase Professional platform but with some regional restrictions.

GNT and DAI will be available in the United States, but not in New York, the United Kingdom, Europe, Canada, Singapore and Australia. MKR and ZIL will be added to Coinbase Pro only in the United Kingdom, EU, Canada, Singapore and Australia. As with previous Coinbase announcements, these jurisdictions could be extended later and rolled out to the main platform of coinbase.com and mobile applications could also be added later.

DAI, MKR and ZIL are ERC20 coins and GNT is based on Ethereum but not officially an ERC20. Coinbase qualifies it as part of its promise to continue adding new ERC20 tokens to its trading platform.

Smart Contract functionality not yet available

The associated intelligent contract feature of each of the new tokens will not be available "immediately" through Coinbase Pro, the press release said and:

As a result, users who want to engage in MKR governance, use GNT tokens to send render tasks to the Golem beta network, use features like Compound or exit DAI positions in case of global settlement will have to move their resources from Coinbase Pro for a local portfolio.

The incoming transfers of the four tokens will be accepted at the "at some point" platform after 11.45 (Pacific time) on the 18th December. Up to 12 hours after the coin trade will be activated once liquidity is established and will start with a USDC pair. The tweets for each currency and stage will be released via the Twitter account Coinbase Pro.

The community response has been mixed with many on Twitter asking for Ripple (XRP) and Stellar (XLM) to be added later and another Twitter user who says:

Please do not add $ waves they would like the increase to continue. Thank you.

The WAVES currency is currently experiencing a massive, considering the current market, and a sustained price increase with a 35% increase that is still occurring in the last 24 hours.

Coinbase is considering other tokens, ERC20s and more, on a case-by-case basis. He added Civic (CVC), district0x (DNT), Loom Network (LOOM) and Decentraland (MANA) on December 7, 2018 and is analyzing the support for Ripple's XRP.
