Cedarcroft Place Retirement Residence in Stratford will begin relocating some residents to local hospitals in an effort to manage the reported COVID-19 outbreak.

To date, 36 Cedarcroft Place residents and 16 staff members have fallen ill. Andrew Williams, president and CEO of Huron Perth Health Alliance (HPHA), said it was a challenge to bring home enough staff to provide the level of care needed. “While the staff at Cedarcroft, HPHA and LHIN (Local Health Integration Network) has been phenomenal in the past few days, we need to reduce the number of residents in the facility and ensure sufficient staffing for those who remain. We have also been well supported by HPPH and EMS. “

The health unit said it is working closely with partners on the relocation plan, including relocating residents. Affected residents and families will be contacted by the retirement home as more details become available.
