Astronomers have indicated that the photo reveals surprising details of its structure.

The US National Solar Observatory released on Thursday the most detailed image they took of a Sunspots until now.

The photo was taken on January 28 by the largest solar telescope, the Daniel K. Inouye, located in Hawaii. “The image of the sunspot reaches a spatial resolution about 2.5 times higher than that obtained previously, which shows magnetic structures up to 20 kilometers above the Sun’s surface, “explained Thomas Rimmele, director of the telescope.

Astronomers explained that the image reveals amazing details of the structure of the spot seen on the Sun’s surface. According to experts, the streaks of hot and cold gas emerging from the darker center are the result of the formation of a convergence of intense magnetic fields and hot gases boiling from below.

The concentration of magnetic fields in this dark area represses the heat inside the star so that it does not reach the surface. Although this sunspot area is cooler than others, it is still extremely hot, with a temperature higher than 4,100 ºC.
