Arrest in the United States: Trump makes an offer

In the fight for the end of the budget freeze, US President Trump promised the democratic concessions on immigration in exchange for the acceptance of his wall plans on the Mexican border.

More than four weeks after the closure in the United States, President Donald Trump presented a new offer to the democratic opposition for the end of the budget dispute.

In a speech at the White House, Trump offered the Democrats to extend deportation protection for the so-called "dreamers" of three years.

The "Dreamers" are immigrants who arrived illegally in the United States as children or adolescents with their parents. Democrats have pledged themselves to remain in the United States.

In return, Trump insisted on his $ 5.7 billion request for a wall bordering Mexico, whose funding the Democrats refuse.

Pelosi talks about "pipecracker"

The Democrats have made clear that even Trump's new push will not bring any breakthrough in the stalemate dispute.

Democratic Nancy Pelosi, president of the House of Representatives, rejected Trump's proposals, which had previously been reported by the US media, prior to her televised speech – she spoke of a "pipe-breaker".

Standstill for four weeks

The arrest has now turned off parts of the US government for more than four weeks. Trump refuses to sign a budget law that does not include funds for his wall. The Democrats ask Trump to reopen the government first and then to discuss border security.

Pelosi announced that with the majority in the House of Representatives, the Democrats would approve several bills next week to reopen the government. The New York Times reported that Democrats have added more than $ 1 billion to it – for border crossing infrastructures and new judges deciding on asylum cases. The money for the Trump wall is therefore not included.

The drawings have no chance of success, especially because the Trump Republicans in the Senate – the second chamber of Congress – have a majority.
