Alan Shearer tells Liverpool they have achieved something Man City, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have not been able to

Alan Shearer insists that no Liverpool title rival could have faced their luck from injuries this season and believes he remains the Premier League favorites.

The Reds are second in the standings despite a flurry of setbacks with Fabinho and Joel Matip in the center of defense for victory over Leicester City on Sunday.

Without Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Thiago Alcantara, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Jordan Henderson – even Naby Keita was replaced with a hamstring complaint – Liverpool received much acclaim for her performance against the Foxes.

And Shearer believes Manchester City, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur would all have problems with such an injury crisis.

“Without a doubt (Liverpool are still the team to beat),” the former Newcastle United forward told Optus Sport after the win.

“They had questions to answer tonight, with people, including ourselves, saying: How are they going to make it?

“It will be so hard for them… this is a brilliant performance… they will miss van Dijk, Gomez and Trent, but the way they dealt with tonight will give everyone something to think about. That’s why they are favorites. Really impressive. They were right to prove.

“I don’t think if you look at City, Chelsea, Leicester, Tottenham – no other club could have faced seven players away like Liverpool tonight.

“The players who came in came in superbly well. A magnificent performance from start to finish, whether it’s the two middle halves, Milner, Robertson, Mane, Firmino.

«But the best in the field was Jota; everything he has done has turned into something very, very special. “
