Many people will have been happy to have a home office that day, because the new Xbox came with many. We share with you our first impressions of the most powerful console ever.
The positive
speed
It is fast, very fast indeed. Apps and games start in moments. If you have a fast internet connection, downloads are no longer slowed down by the hardware. Then you can download the updates at full speed. Even within the menu, everything reacts without delay. The wait is over, in the true sense of the word.
volume
It is already running? It’s amazing how quiet the new console is. You can also hear no fans in games running at 4K and 60FPS. Sure, the exhaust air is quite hot. But it appears that the manufacturers behind this console have built a sophisticated cooling system. The days of notable fans are definitely over.
Hardware
There is no question, Xbox Series X is heavy. However, this is probably also due to the high quality materials. The case is available in a beautiful black and the ventilation holes are set in a soft green. All in all, the block looks very noble. Microsoft has given up on an external power supply and HDMI input connection, as it was still available on the Xbox One.

It’s amazing what is graphically possible with the X series. Not just updated games like Gears 5 they look great, even “normal” Xbox One games show a noticeable improvement in their appearance. We could run away from Super Lucky’s Tale it no longer resolves because the cute fox looks much sharper on the new console than on the Xbox One X. So while there are no major launch titles, previous games certainly benefit from the new performance.
The thing that needs improvement
Quick resume
Many videos showed upfront how to switch between games without having to fully load it. The so-called “Quick Resume” technology is responsible for this. In the test with Watch Dogs: Legion is Forza Horizon 4 but this hasn’t always worked out the way it should be. Unfortunately, we can’t definitively answer whether it’s the games themselves or the technology. But Microsoft will definitely update here quickly, as this is actually one of the great new features.
Use of the network
Just before 7pm the little shock: it was no longer possible to access the Xbox network. This is likely due to the fact that everyone around the world is now holding their new Xbox and wanting to set it up. It can, but it shouldn’t happen. After a good hour, the network was stable again and you could log into the console with your account.

Final thoughts
Wow! It doesn’t need any more words. The Xbox Series X definitely does what it says on the tin. The console is fast, quiet, and has immense performance potential. Games optimized for this are not yet available, but older games are also more fun than ever due to shorter load times and improved optics. Of course Microsoft has yet to iron out one or the other detail, but it’s safe to say that the launch of the most powerful console of all time was a success.
