2018 Pinnacle Awards: the great episode of HHS & # 39; Jose Arrieta on Blockchain

[ad_2][ad_1]

Jose Arrieta is the man who brought blockchain technology to the Department of Health and Human Service.

Arreita, an assistant associate undersecretary at HHS, used the cryptographic-based digital storage system to help the agency make smarter purchasing decisions, creating the first blockchain of the federal government – and only the second in the world – to be used for public procurement.

Arrieta's success awarded him an IT Innovator of the Year award as part of the inaugural Pinnacle Awards. The award recognizes the chief technology officers of the government, the information managers and the program directors who were stockbrokers within their agencies.

Arrieta has harnessed the power of the blockchain, putting technology at the forefront of existing systems, allowing it to incorporate data into a blockchain in a secure cloud environment. The switch included five different contract writing systems that handle over 100,000 contract actions each year – worth $ 24.2 billion

Previously, when HHS entered into a strategic sourcing commitment, the acquisition staff would have to manually collect contract spending data from the various agency offices and business divisions and then accurately classify the information into ordered spreadsheets. for price points and terms and conditions.

But with the power of the blockchain, HHS can now perform analysis on 10 product categories in a second second, providing contractors with critical data at their fingertips.

All in all, the agency spent only $ 500,000 to implement the system in just seven weeks and has already seen a return on investment of more than 1,000 percent.
