15 killed while the Islamist attack on the Kenya hotel complex continues

OROn April 2, 2015, another Shabaab attack killed 148 people at the University of Garissa in eastern Kenya.

The Westgate attack has led many establishments and luxury shopping centers in the capital, including the Dusit, to impose severe security barriers to control cars and pedestrians.

Several factories in Nairobi, popular with Westerners, have announced on social media that they have closed for security reasons.

In his statement, the group noted that the attack took place exactly three years after its fighters invaded a Kenyan military base in Somalia.

"This attack on Hotel Nairobi has come when Kenyans and their media are commemorating (the) El Adde attack," he said.

The Shabaab claimed to have killed more than 200 soldiers in that assault. The government refused to give a toll or disclose details.
