Eleven confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been linked to an indoor sports facility in Vaughan.

York Region Public Health said the cases are linked to a group of 20-25 people who played football at the TRIO Sportsplex and Event Center in the Teston Road and Highway 400 area on November 11 and 15.

Officials said the group wore masks during the match but did not wear them in the locker room.

The first case was notified to York Region Public Health on Friday.

Of the 11 people, eight are from Toronto and York, Simcoe-Muskoka and Peel regions each have one. Everyone is advised to self-isolate for 14 days.

The risk for those attending the events is high, and officials advise them to monitor their symptoms.

On Saturday, 145 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the York region.
