The sample indicated that social media is the main medium through which Chinese citizens are exposed to cryptocurrencies, with 38% of respondents declaring that they are familiar with the crypt by claiming to have been exposed to them through social media, followed by " relatives and friends "with 26%.

Panews also noted that the majority of respondents associated cryptocurrencies with investment products primarily and not as a medium of exchange.

Only 17 respondents said they did not hear about cryptocurrency, while 103 said they were not familiar with Bitcoin. 60% of the respondents described the common perceptions about the complexity of the exchange and memorization of cryptocurrency as a main barrier to greater cryptic adoption.
