Lebanese expert: Syria must be invited to the Beirut summit … and return it to the League of Arab States

Lebanon declared that "it is not the decision maker" to invite Syria to the next Arab economic summit in Beirut in January, but "it can start and work for its presence.

Lebanese Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil wrote in his Twitter account that Lebanon does not require, but adheres to the decision of the Arab League, but can start and work for Syria's return to the Arab League.

Beirut is scheduled to host the 19th and 20th of this month, the economic development summit held by the Arab League.

The Arab League suspended Syria in November 2011 following pressure from Arab countries that accused President Bashar al-Assad of killing civilians in Syria.

"The decision made by the Arab League to freeze Syria's accession is illegal and inconsistent with the laws of the Arab League," said Regional Advisor and Researcher Rifat Badawi. The State of Yemen strongly supports this decision, as is customary, any decision made by the League of Arab States must be subject to collective consent.
